Sil Preussker: Why I chose to become an executive and organisational coach
Throughout my life, I have been passionate about inspiring and supporting professional and personal growth in people.
I started to coach others during the doctoral studies I completed in Germany and Italy in the field of art history, both as a university tutor and by mentoring beginner students outside of formal settings. During the 15 years in which I was employed with Deutsche Bank, and in which I went through stations in Frankfurt and New York before moving to Hong Kong as a regional chief operating officer and business manager for one of the bank's major back office divisions, I gained more experience in coaching as I developed my own staff, mentored junior colleagues and welcomed interns into my team.
Consider it selfish that, as a consequence, I decided to become a professional executive and organisational coach and founded Beyond Limits here in Hong Kong. It is because I simply enjoy how as a coach I can make an impact.
I enjoy when individuals, teams and sometimes whole organisations discover how to go way beyond what they thought they are capable of. I enjoy hearing it click in them when they find a creative workable solution for a long standing problem. I enjoy watching my clients seeing multiple thrilling possibilities where they previously believed to be stuck with one desperate option. I enjoy helping them make full use of their strengths and resources, and turn around their weaknesses. I enjoy seeing people at all levels develop from doers and managers into truly efficient leaders, acting at their best and inspiring others. I enjoy seeing high potentials get that promotion and fill out a challenging bigger role. I enjoy when people realise they can become now the one who their line managers and organisations hoped they would become one day. I enjoy when my clients get clarity about what they want to achieve. I enjoy when, with this clarity, they start realising their visions with ease, because they have a burning motivation to pursue them, the strong will to change to this end, and the ability to outperform and excel with every step they move closer towards the finish line.
I enjoy when I am a catalyst for my clients - a catalyst that kick-starts and fuels their transformation and growth beyond limits.
