"I never cease to be amazed at the power of the coaching process to draw out the skills or talent that was previously hidden within an individual, and which invariably finds a way to solve a problem previously thought unsolvable."
John Russell
Coaching is the most powerful and most efficient method to develop people. It verifiably increases individual and organisational performance and happiness.
This is the short version.

Coaching is a recognized people development method which employs a mixture of tools and skills of structured dialogue in combination with a particular mindset within a formal setting, to the end of guiding individuals, groups and organizations towards reaching their short, mid and long-term goals.
Using powerful questioning, deep listening, and professional feedback techniques, certified professional coaches like myself are trained to challenge their counterparts to leave their comfort zones. This leads to acceleration in the personal and professional growth of the coachee. It kick-starts and nurtures a process of transformational change that is measurable and lasting.
Each coaching process itself is master-tailored to the developmental needs of the coaching counterpart, and focuses on the specific individual strengths and personality patterns of the coachee. As such, it empowers the latter to spot and remove assumptions, beliefs or behaviours which are of a self-limiting or self-boycotting nature, to uncover the full potential of his or her talents, experiences, and resources, and to claim full ownership of the path and nature of his self-improvement.
At the very basis of coaching stands a philosophy that assumes that all individuals are resourceful by themselves. Everybody is able to perform to the full extent of their capacities and skills – and often way beyond -, albeit these may be partly dormant at present. Coaching aims at getting rid of internal and external roadblocks and interferences between this immanent potential and the actual performance of the coachee. It aims to do so by giving the coachee the ultimate command of the development process. This is because coaches are conscious that any profound change needs to be initiated and embraced from within. We can only change ourselves, and to do so, we need to have genuine motivation to abandon current habits and mindsets for new and better ones. If change is imposed from the outside by someone else, the response will at best be shallow attempts and pretense, usually defense and resistance, and sometimes even sabotage and open hostility. And finally, coaching always involves the whole person, and does not deal with just a part of it, or a job or other role taken. Coaching at its optimum is therefore also a life-changing if not spiritual journey, as it leads to a highly increased self-awareness, can bring us into touch with the deepest layers of our personality, and can get us connected with new sources of inner and outer strength.
Over the last decade, coaching has matured, and has established itself as the most efficient and innovative people development method in the corporate world. Today, it is used by many large and successful companies and institutions across the globe as a matter of course, including, and increasingly so over the last years, many which are based in Hong Kong, China and the Asia-Pacific region. In bigger organizations, nowadays, internal coaching programs and hired external coaches complement one another, as both forms of coaching have advantages and disadvantages. Also, more and more small and medium sized companies and individuals discover coaching as a means to improve leadership, communication, networking, team performance, and other so-called "soft-skills", and realize that engaging a coach is a valuable and necessary measure to increase their success and to accompany restructurings and organizational changes in times of economic crises and challenges.
Coaching is a very powerful tool with a proven record of delivering results. Personal records and scientific studies give evidence of how much it can achieve. The only condition for it to work is that one starts the process.
